- To issue written particulars of employment to the employee/s at the beginning of the contract of employment
- To provide work to the employee- if the employer does not provide the work, he/she will still pay the employee his/her wages as long as the employee is not a casual worker.
- To provide working materials and tools of the trade at his/her own expenses. It is not allowed for an employer to deduct money from the employee’s wages for work materials.
- To provide protective gears for the workers-
- To pay employees in time and as agreed in legal tender
- To make lawful and allowable deductions from the employee’s salaries. These include PAYE of 30%, NSSF 5%, local service tax, union dues.
- To provide a safe working environment for his/her employees
- To issue pay statements to the employees every month
- To insure his/her workers against any injuries during and in the course of employment.
- To compensate an injured worker for the injuries sustained.
