• Steal a will- this is punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years. This means that the maximum period the convicted person can spend in prison is 10 years.
• Conceal a will- this is punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years
• Destroy a will- this is punishable by imprisonment for up to 14 years
• Forge a will- this is punishable by imprisonment for life.

• A death certificate.
• LC letter confirming the death of the testator.
• A recommendation from the LC that the person applying is a fit and proper person to make the application/ certificate of no objection.
• A copy of the will in case the deceased made a will but did not name an executor.
• Minutes for the meeting of the family members where the person applying was appointed and agreed to in cases of deceased dying without a will.
